PickYou Technologies Inc. is preparing a customer-care text messaging service. Riders can record or withdraw their consent today, but PickYou is not currently sending customer-care text messages. Nothing will be sent until messaging service activation is complete.
Current status
- Consent collection is live: you can opt in, or opt back out, at any time.
- Outbound customer-care text messaging is not yet operational. PickYou is not sending text messages today.
- Inbound keyword handling (STOP, HELP, START) is not yet operational, because no messages are being sent.
- PickYou will reach you by phone, email or in the app in the meantime.
How a customer opts in
PickYou asks for a mobile number in one place: the rider sign-up screen at pickyou.ca, where a person creates their own account. Directly beneath the phone field there is a single, optional, unchecked tick box. A customer opts in only by actively ticking that box. The same control appears in the customer’s account settings, so consent can be given or withdrawn at any time — including before messaging launches.
The tick box is separate from Terms of Service and Privacy Policy acceptance. It is never bundled with them, and consent is never inferred from using the app, taking a ride, or paying a fare. Consent is optional and is not a condition of purchasing or using transportation service.
The exact wording shown to the customer
See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Text messages are optional — you can use PickYou without them.
Shown above exactly as it appears at sign-up, unchecked by default. This copy is for reference only; ticking it here does nothing.
“I agree to receive customer-care text messages from PickYou Technologies at the phone number I provided. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”
What we will send once messaging launches
- Customer-care and service messages only: ride confirmations, driver-arrival notices, support replies and account or safety notices tied to a ride the customer requested.
- No marketing, promotional or advertising text messages will be sent, and PickYou does not collect consent for them.
- Message frequency will vary with how often the customer rides. Message and data rates may apply once messaging launches.
Stopping messages and getting help
When customer-care messaging launches, replying STOP to a PickYou message will end those messages, and replying HELP will return PickYou contact details. Replying START, or ticking the box again in your account, will opt you back in. These keyword replies are not active yet, because no messages are being sent yet.
Today, and after launch, you can turn text messages off in your PickYou account settings or by contacting support. Opting out never affects a person’s ability to ride, to be dispatched, or to contact support by phone or email.
How consent is recorded
When a customer ticks the box, PickYou records that they consented, the phone number the consent applies to, the exact wording version they saw, where they gave it (sign-up or account settings), and the date and time. Withdrawal is recorded the same way. The record is private to that customer’s own account and is never shared with other customers, drivers or taxi companies, and is never sold.
See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Text messages are optional — you can use PickYou without them.
